meditation origin
anyone know anything about meditation?

can anyone tell me the origin of meditation? what required education and training is needed to administer it? please and thank you!

Google Transcendental Meditation for its origins.

You don’t “administer” meditation. It is something you do, or don’t do.

The first respondent is a pompous dork who has no idea what meditation is. Taking a bath or even sitting quietly do NOT qualify as meditation. Meditation is an activity you perform in silence.

You could try this: light a candle turn off lights, sit comfortably and place the candle slightly above eye level.

Focus on the blue flame.

Breathe in slowly but naturally (don’t strain) while watching the flame.

Brush away any and all thoughts until you empty your mind of thoughts.

When a though comes in tell yourself you brush it away.

When you think “wow, I haven’t had a thought for like 5 seconds”, brush it away and recenter your focus on the flame.

This is transcendental meditation, its aim is to transcend thought and to make your spaces between thought longer and longer. With practice you’ll get better. Do like 5-15 min to begin, no more.

Another variation is to breathe in a thought that you want to adopt as inner quality such as “health” or “peace” or “beauty” and breathe out a thought you don’t want such as “illness” or “chaos” or “uglyness”

A great one to begin is breathe in “awareness” and breathe out “ignorance” or “denial”.

You’ll find as you do this that the positive thought manifests itself in your life and all that is (illness, chaos, uglyness or whatever thought) leaves your life effortlessly.

Enjoy it takes discipline but the rewards are many! Enlightenment is right around the corner!
